Norberto Esbrez is a third generation tanguero, the son and grandson of
bandoneon players, who has been dancing professionally, teaching and
choreographing tangos for twelve years in Argentina and Brazil. He is one of
the new generation of tango dancers who are creating distinct and exciting
styles of dancing and teaching. Norberto earned his nickname, "El Pulpo," (the
octopus) for his ability to improvise complex sequences of ganchos, sacadas and
enganches. Luiza Paes was one of Norberto's students at his Sao Paulo dance
studio. She has an extensive music background and began studying tango as a
new form of musical expression. She became Norberto's assistant and partner,
and started traveling with him in 1999.
One of their stops last year was the San Francisco bay area. They dropped in
at The Danceasy and treated us to an exhibition of their dancing. We
immediately invited them to come again.
They will be teaching the following dates and times at The Danceasy:

June 3 - 8-9 pm, advanced class before the milonga. $12 includes the class
and dancing. They will perform during the milonga.

June 10 - They will perform at a tea dance to be held from 2-3 pm ($5), and
will then teach a workshop for intermediate level and above from 3-5:30 pm.

June 11 - 1-3:30 pm, intermediate level and above workshop. The workshops
cost $30 each in advance, $35 each at the door, space permitting.

The Danceasy is located at 9951 San Pablo Ave. in El Cerrito, CA, just north of
Berkeley in the east bay. Our phone number is (510)524-9100. Visit our
website at www.danceasy.com, or write us at [email protected].

We provide discounts to BA Tango members for all of our Thursday classes, and
for our Saturday milongas. Sorry, but discounts don't include classes taught
by visiting Argentines - we want them to make lots of money and keep coming
back!
