DETAILS ON GUILLERMO AND FERNANDA WORKSHOPS + TRIO PANTANGO (JULY 15-17,
2000)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guillermo and Fernanda Merlo are among the best regarded young Tango
dancers and teachers in the world. They have been featured in some of
the top Tango Congresses in the world, including CITA-2000 in Buenos
Aires, the London Tango Festival (1999, 2000) and the US Tango Congress
in Miami (1999, 2000). Guillermo has been part of the cast of Forever
Tango, where he won a Tony Award for his choreography. Guillermo and
Fernanda went on to produce their own show Tango Dreams. Guillermo has
been dancing Tango professionally since he was 12 and has been featured
in National Geographic's Tango, and other TV appearances. Fernanda has
been dancing since 13, and achieved a high stature as a ballet dancer
before embracing Tango in 1993. They have both studied with some of the
greatest names among the "old guard" of Tango, and have established
themselves as among the Tango greats of their generation.

In 1999, they were awarded the title of IDO Champions in the Argentine
Tango division. That same year, they visited the Middle East, and
pioneered the introduction of Argentine Tango in countries like Israel
and Egypt. They travel all over the world as ambassadors of the
Argentine Tango and are received with acclaim wherever they go!

TRIO PANTANGO comprising bandoneon, piano and guitar, was founded in
1992 and has built up a solid reputation in Buenos Aires, Europe and
recently in North America. They have several Tango CDs to their credit
and have recorded several Tangos for the "Solo Tango" TV channel in
Buenos Aires. They have performed at many of the prestigious Tango
venues in Buenos Aires and the rest of the world. We are pleased to
welcome them back to Boston where they first visited on their inaugural
U.S. trip in December 1998!
