The Tampa Bay Tango community is very excited to announce a weekend of workshops by world renown teacher Fabian Salas and Cynthia Viel from August 25 - 27th.
This will be our biggest workshop weekend of the year and we will also feature a big show called 'A Night of Tango in Tampa!. The show will also star Leandro Palou and Adrea Misse from Buenos Aires. Also performing will be Christian Camacho and Monica Lobbet. They are a teenage couple that are sure to be future stars as was seen by their recent performance at the USTC. The show will also present some of our local Tango professionals as well as live music by Miguel Arrabal and his Tango X Three trio and the incredible voice of singer Carlos Cortez from Buenos Aires. For those of you who are not familiar with Fabian, he is one of the world s best teachers, one of the original pioneers of Tango Nuevo and one of the few teachers that can make the components of Tango truly understandable and easy to dance. Fabian is also one of the founders of the Congreso Internacional de Tango Argentino (CITA) in Buenos Aires. Fabian and Cynthia will be teaching components of classic Salon Tango such as: balance, lead, follow, navigation, musicality, and improvisation. They will also include more advanced components like the change of direction of the turn , boleos, sacadas, barridas, and colgados. There will be a total of eight classes over the three days. We would like to keep the class size small for as much personal attention as possible. In order to do this, if there is sufficient enrollment, we will divide into two classes and our other stars of the show, Leandro and Andrea, will also teach workshops. Both classes will have equal time with both couples. Leandro and Andrea are wonderful teachers that teach very elegant dancing with an emphasis on strong technique rather than steps. They both speak very good English and will definitely improve your dancing. Please assist us in our planning by registering as early as possible. There will be milongas all three nights plus the show on Sunday includes a great dinner. The entire cost of the weekend is $200, ($180 if payment received by August 18th). Tampa Bay is beautiful at this time of year featuring some of the nations best beaches so if you can, come a couple of days early and make this a Tango mimi-vacation!
