The Latin & Argentine Tango Club of Detroit will celebrate its 7th
Anniversary on Friday, September 29th, at the beautiful and historic Lovett
Hall in Dearborn, Michigan. This event will consist of a formal, gala
dinner and show with lots of general dancing throughout the evening. The
evening will begin at 7:00pm with cocktails and general dancing to the best
recorded music of Buenos Aires, compliments of DJ Michael Derscha. Dinner
will be served at 9:00pm and the show will begin at 10:00pm.
We will have the honor of having Compañía TangoDanza with us for this event.
TangoDanza is the world renown show created from the experiences around the
world of two young dancers, Leandro Palou & Andrea Missé. Using the
sensuality and the power of the Argentine tango music and dance the show
uniquely targets emotions and feelings of the audience. The dancers show in
their bodies and movement the complexity and deepness of the traditional
music of Buenos Aires. Everything combines to create an ambiance, a
feeling, a journey through a series of emotions. In TangoDanza the three
couples present the various styles of Argentine tango, from the most
rhythmical, electric and playful to the more intense, deeper and sensual.
During the three acts of the Latin & Argentine Club 7th Anniversary
Celebration Leandro & Andrea, Gabriel Missé & Maria Sol Alzamora , and Diego
Amorín & Vanesa De Lío will present selected tangos, milongas, and vals
criollos from TangoDanza. For a special treat, Gabriel ("King of Swing in
Buenos Aires") & Maria Sol have graciously consented to dance a swing. The
speed and precision with which they dance the traditional American dance is
breathtaking. In addition, as an integral part of our show, we will present
Michigan's Greatest Dancers, including our own Motor City Milongueros.
On Saturday, September 30th, we will have a class and milonga at Dance
Avenue studio in Dearborn, Michigan. The class will be from 7:00 to 9:00pm
and the milonga from 9:00pm until everyone gets tired. All three couples
will teach the class. We will have beginning, intermediate, and advanced
levels, one couple teaching each level.
On Sunday, October 1st we will have a workshop at Dance Avenue. There will
be classes in tango, milonga, and vals. Again, beginning, intermediate, and
advanced levels will be offered with one couple teaching each level.
Classes will begin at 1:00pm and continue throughout the day. There will be
a two hour practice session following the last class, supervised by all
three couples.
Take advantage of this unique opportunity spend the weekend with six of the
world's youngest and finest tango dancers and instructors. For an
additional treat, you will have the day free Saturday to visit the world
renown Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. This complex has been
recently expanded to include the Automotive Hall of Fame and the Spirit of
Ford. Lovett Hall is in Greenfield Village next to the Museum. Lovett Hall
is the only building which Henry Ford named for one of his teachers,
Benjamin B. Lovett, his full time dance teacher. The dance floor is a huge
expanse of luxurious teakwood floor laid down in an intricate, flawless,
herringbone design upon which Henry Ford's formally attired guests danced
Mazurkas and Varsoviennes to "Aunt Dinah's Quilting Party".
Please contact us for further information and reservations. We will be
happy to assist you with travel and lodging arrangements.
