Earlier this year, Nito & Elba toured the United States teaching tango
workshops to raise money to pay for an operation for their
grandaughter, Milagros. Part of that tour included a three-week
residency in Dallas.
A friend of mine, Phyllis Williams, has produced a video documenting
the material that they taught during that residency. After expenses,
all proceeds from the video will go to Nito and Elba to benefit their
grandaughter.
The two-hour video captures Nito & Elba in the classroom teaching
tango, milonga, and vals in the way only they can teach. As always,
the material being taught and the insights being offered are
absolutely first-rate.
Phyllis initially shot the footage during the workshop classes for her
own use, with a hand-held camcorder. She intelligently edited the
numerous hours of footage she shot. The various steps Nito & Elba
teach are shown one to three times--sometimes with Nito dancing with
female students in the workshop.
