Recent Workshops with Cacho Dante

Many thanks to Cacho Dante for his wonderful work with Milonguero
Style tango this past week in Denver. His material is deceptively
simple yet very deep: I think of it as "Fundamentals for Advanced
Dancers". Cacho teaches the "milonguero style" tango as it is danced
in the downtown clubs of Buenos Aires, close embrace, heart-to-heart,
full of rhythm and playfulness.

From Denver, Cacho goes on to Atlanta and then Dallas.

Dan Diaz & Tango Camerata (Duo Lorca incarnation)
"Music that comes alive in your heart."

Personnel:
 - Dan Diaz on Bandoneon - Orem, UT
Duo Lorca of Kansas City:
 - Christine Brebes on violin - Kansas City, MO
 - Beau Bledsoe on guitar - Kansas City, MO
Denver Musicians:
 - Robin Ruscio on double bass - Denver, CO
 - Lia Davis on piano - Denver, CO
 - Django Paoulo on African Drum - Denver, CO

We can number on one hand the tango orchestras in the US that play
regularly for dancers (New York Tango Trio, Denver's Extasis, St
Louis's Duo Lorca and Seattle's Tango Divinoe are four). Here in
Colorado we have also been fortunate to have Dan Diaz coming to town
about once a month. He always adds guest musicians, to form "The
Tango Camerata".

Last weekend Dan invited Duo Lorca from Kansas City along with a
local Bassist, Pianist and African Drummer to join with him to form a
tango Sextet. The music was absolutely terrific, even for milongueros
more used to the 1940s DJ selections.

When it is really working, live music is a dialogue between the
dancers and the musicians; This is the energy that Dan Diaz seeks,
and what he means when he says: "We don't play live music, we play
music that comes alive in your heart."

There were about 120 dancers on Friday and 70 on Saturday. The energy
was so great that people couldn't go home.

I am very please to be able to invite Brigitta Winkler back again for
her 5th visit to Colorado. She is one of my top 3 favorite dancer
partners and teachers.

Brigitta Winkler is perhaps the most joyful and whimsical dancer I
know of. Her teaching is extremely well-thought out both in terms of
the usefulness of the material and in people's learning process. Her
methodology is informed by her study of Mind-Body Awareness, and 15
years of teaching experience.

Brigitta has considerable experience in the Milongas of Buenos Aires,
where she is a respected milonguera. Brigitta teaches in Berlin, New
York and in travels around the US and Europe.

Brigitta will work on Musicality and Playfulness, with a special
focus on opening the women to decorations and rhythmic play.
