Come join us as Fabian Salas and Carolina del Rivero give workshops this next weekend, November 11-12, at the Viscount Ballroom, 722 E. Burnside, in Portland, Oregon. The workshops promise to be both fun and challenging, as Fabian (in addition to being one of the great innovators of modern tango) is a clear, methodical, and entertaining teacher.
Fabian has had significant impact on tango dancers of the Northwest, largely through his extended stays in Seattle. He has also taught several workshops in Portland, but this will be his first time to teach and perform here with an Argentine dance partner. Carolina del Rivero is a beautiful young classically trained ballerina and modern dancer who has studied and performed with many of Buenos Aires's major tango masters, including Gustavo Naveira and Fabian. The workshop schedule is as follows: Saturday, Nov. 11 12:00 - 1:30 PM Beginning Tango Fundamentals 2:15 - 3:45 PM Milonga Traspie 4:00 - 5:30 PM Sacadas Sunday, Nov. 12 12:00 - 1:30 PM Boleos 1:45 - 3:15 PM Ganchos 4:00 - 5:30 PM Breaking the Code (advanced only - one year tango experience plus attendance in any two of the above classes suggested) Prices are $22 per class, $75 for four classes, $90 for five classes, and $100 for all six classes. Fabian and Carolina will perform Saturday night, Nov. 11, at the Minnehaha Grange Milonga, 4905 St. John's Blvd., in Vancouver, Washington (10-15 minute drive North of Portland). This milonga will also feature live danceable tango music from Portland's excellent "Duo Tango" (John Mery, guitar and Mary Rowell, violin).
