Come on out and dance Thursday night, January 25 at Salon Recuerdo to the BEST selection of classic dance music from the Golden Era of Tango on L.A.'s largest tango dance floor! Once again, we'll be well prepared for a possible "rolling power blackout," so why worry? We'll have pizza along with our usual wine sodas, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, fabulous desserts and other munchies! Salon Recuerdo is located at the Culver City Masonic Lodge, 9635 Venice Blvd., between Motor and Bagley/Main. Linda Valentino will teach a milonga class from 8 to 9 p.m.; dancing from 9 to midnight or later. $10 per person. We'll also have information on upcoming classes with Julio Balmaceda and Corina De La Rosa in April and on our exciting Tango Congress--"Tango Fireworks 2001"--Southern California's first-ever week-long tango congress! For more info call Hector at (310) 666-9280 or Linda at (323) 650-0509. We hope to see you there!
If you missed last week's the finals of our Salon Recuerdo "Jack and Jill" Tango Competition, here are the winners: First Place: Jon Martin and Ana Maria Menendez, Second Place: Howard Barsky and Brenda Ferreira, Third Place: Avi Waingarten and Susan Gregory, Fourth Place: Oscar Spear and Valerie Van Gelder. Congratulations to all of them.
