~ NEW SATURDAY WORKSHOPS starting in February 2001 ~ After February 14th, Carolina and Diego will replace their Wednesday and Friday evening classes with Saturday workshops during the periods they are in New York. These will be open to good intermediate and advanced students only. Space is limited and you must pre-register.
Attention will be given in the first New York class to musicality, improvisation, and other dance issues rather than to steps alone. The schedule for Feb. 24th is as follows: 12:00 – 1:00 TECHNIQUE (in separate rooms, for men and women) Improve posture and balance, learn how to walk well, do ganchos, boleos, sacadas, enrosques etc., and lead/follow. This class is very good for correcting technical problems and warming up for a day of intensive work. 1:00 – 2:00 TANGO: dynamics, different tempos, musicality (longer break: lunch, or coffee) 3:00 – 4:00 VALS: rhythm, how to navigate, steps from the video 4:00 – 4:30 PRACTICA (short break) 4:45 – 5:45 TANGO: different ways to turn, sacadas 5:45 – 6:30 PRACTICA Classes will be kept in even numbers, men and women. Registration with a partner is encouraged, but those signing up individually will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis by gender. Wear something comfortable and perhaps bring a change of clothing (an extra T-shirt, etc.); women might find it helpful to wear flat shoes for at least part of the day. Cost: $100 paid in advance (by Feb. 7th), $125 thereafter Location: Champions Dance Studio, 300 W. 43rd St., 3rd floor (betw. 8th and 9th Aves.) The second workshop is scheduled for March 31st. Again, regular Wed. evening classes (Technique 7:30, Intermediate 8:30) continue through February 14th. Each class $20, 4 Technique or 4 Intermediate classes $70, 8 classes $125.
