In the last few years, many Tango Productions have been presented to the
general public and the Tango afionados of Montreal.
"Tango Pasion" of 1997 comes particularly to mind because of its
imaginative presentation and because of Sexteto
 Mayor WHICH featured four bandoneonists.
And between 1997 and 1999, there were Forever Tango and Tango Vivo who
added presentations in Montreal to their tour of North American cities.

In 1994 and 1995, Graffiti Tango of Montreal produced three Shows at
the Théatre d'aujourd'hui: Deviation, Evolution and " Le Voyeur" ( The
peeping Tom ). These three Shows presenteD new choregraphies with
an original concept but did not use live musicians.

But we had to wait until the Spring of 2000 before a Superproduction
under the auspices of Paul Montpetit ( Tango Bohemio of Montreal)
and the artistic direction of Woulter Brave from Amsterdam
would bring together on the same Stage dancers and musicians of international
caliber with local Artists to constitute the makings of TANGO TANGO.

While the dancing of TANGO TANGO was very good, the music was perharps
the strongest feature of this Show. We present TO you on this CD
the same quality of audition that was experienced by the crowd who
applauded the Artists of Tango Tango at the Center Pierre Peladeau
on the night of the 23 rd and 24 th of April 2000.

The Soundtrack of this CD was taken from the console of the Show
by Marcelo Delambre who Was Sound Engineer OF TANGO TANGO.
Among Marcelo`s past realizations was Romulo Larrea' s Ensemble's
 first tango album called PREPARENSE.

On this album you will listen to the same tangos that were interpretated by
the Star dancers of Tango Tango. They are Classics from the old & the
new repertory, along with some original compositions by Victor SImon
and Nestor Vas Chaves. LES DANSEURS D`APRES-MIDI ( Afternoon Dancers)
was composed by Victor Simon; PRIMA TANGO was composed by Victor Simon
& Carmen Piculeata and SOLITUDE is an excerpt of a suite that was composed
in Montreal by the bandoneonist Nestor Vas Chaves of Uruquay.

You will appreciate the delicate phrasing and the strength of the rhythm
provided by the bandoneon played by Nestor Vas Chaves. The piano sounds
great! The
piano is a grand concert STEINWAY that brings nobility and richness of
sound.
The introduction of a classic guitar to the orchestral alignment
is not frequent ( besides the famous Quinteto Real ) but in this orchestra
the guitar adds rythm accents that are indeed very interesting and which has
some resemblance to the "umpa-umpa" of Ubaldo De Lio when he plays with
Horacio Salgan. I was also impressed by the technique of the Doublebass
player
Christophe Papadimitriou to the point of giving him the
distinction of most impressiVE Doublebass player of year 2000!

Please check our review of the year 2000

These are some of the elements that will, I hope,
  please you on this album.
