5th Annual Milonga: An Argentine Tango Evening ( April 8th, 2001)

> > The evening will begin at 7pm with a concert by Flor de Tango, a
> > professional Argentine musical duo currently in the San Francisco Bay
> > Area.  Flor de Tango plays a broad instrumental repertoire ranging from
> > old-guard tango to modern styles like that of Horacio Salgan or Astor
> > Piazzolla.  The duo follows the traditional flute and guitar line-up,
>but  in this special presentation they will have two guests musicians:
>bassist and accordionist Adrian Jost.

During the musicians performance, world renowned tango dancers Marcelo
> > Varela and Analia Vega will delight the audience with a demonstration
of
> > their dancing. After the demonstration they will give a tango dance
>class for beginners. Marcelo and Analia are considered among the best
> > professional dancers from Buenos Aires, Marcelo has performed in the
>Broadway show "Forever Tango" and together with Analia they have performed
in the movie "Evita" by Alan Parker and tango shows in Buenos Aires and
around the world.

Finally, following the lesson and demonstration, the floor will be opened
for
> > dancing to the music of Flor de Tango until 11PM.  This final part of
>the event will recreate the traditional Argentine tango dance party known
as
Milonga.
