Their dedication to Argentine tango have helped establish an enthusiastic and growing tango community in the Metropolitan Washington DC area. They were featured in Washington Tango Festival as "milonguero" dancers. Their regular milongas, well attended by dancers from local and all around the world are known for the finest music selection and the most desirable dancing ambience. As instructors they are most attentive to what makes tango elegant and unique in the creative interpretation of the richly rhythmic tango music. For the last several years they have visited many cities around the world to learn and to share "their tango." They have enjoyed tango in Montreal, New York City, Amsterdam, Buenos Aires, Atlanta, Houston, Baltimore, Los Angeles, Berlin, and Nijmegen. Eugenia and Chan are known for their unique and elegant style of dancing in close embrace, or "milonguero" style, which has been danced in the crowded clubs of Buenos Aires for the decades. They made it their quest to promote tango danced socially, for pleasure. Milonguero dancers move together to the rhythm of tango, stopping only to convey their deep emotional connection to their partners, and the music. There is no choreography involved, just joy, movement, and creativity. "TANGO made SIMPLE" is a systematic approach to elegant dancing with balance, graceful movement, and creative interpretation of music. Eugenia and Chan use their professional experiences in education, physics, music, fine arts, and oriental philosophy in teaching tango. In addition to mechanical aspect of tango including posture, axis, grounding, breathing, balance, and sensitivity, Eugenia and Chan place great emphasis on simple body movements, appreciation of music, recognition of inner self, and acceptance of partner to achieve joy of tango dancing and oneness with partner. They also encourage their students to be creative in dancing in their own style rather than executing predetermined patterns.
