Cecilia González is following up her initial visit to Portland (last year
with Chicho) by returning with fellow dancer/teacher Jean Sébastien Rampazzi
of Paris, France.
Admired for her elegant and graceful style, and very well-respected in
the
Buenos Aires tango community, Cecilia has taught and danced at numerous
festivals in Argentina, Europe, and the United States. She has partnered
many of the most eminent tangueros of her generation, including Miguel
Zotto, Osvaldo Zotto, Fabián Salas, Pablo Veron, Julio Balmaceda, and
Chicho. Cecilia endeavors "to investigate the possibilities of movement and
expression that tango offers, always in correspondence to the music and in
continuous improvisation, two of the most important and decisive elements of
this dance."
Jean Sébastien Rampazzi, whose tango has also been greatly influenced
by Gustavo Naveira and Fabián Salas (as well as by Pablo Veron and Chicho),
conducts ongoing movement research with Céline Ruiz, Victoria Vieyra, and
Cecilia Gonzalez. He and Ms. Vieyra have performed with the Juan Cedron
Orchestra in Paris, and in Warsaw with Juan José Mosalini's Orchestra "La
Tipica." He teaches regularly in Paris and throughout Europe with Céline
Ruiz. Jean Sébastien also dances and co-choreographs with the "Marie
Véronique Martinez Dance Company," which has been commissioned to perform a
new piece at the Avignon International Festival (2002).
