Greetings to All, I am pleased to announce that Omar Vega will return to Colorado July 12-15 to teach a very special workshop designed for dancers of all levels. Students who have danced a few weeks as well as students who have danced for several years will benefit.
Instead of concentrating on steps and patterns, the classes will be an intensive study of fundamental and foundational skills to improve the quality of your dance. Omar will emphasize sound body mechanics and strong fundamentals. He will also encourage participants to explore ways to dance more musically and more expressively. He will pay special attention to purifying and clarifying students movements so that whatever you choose to dance, you will dance it better. This workshop will not teach you to make a rough facsimile of someone else's movement. Instead, Omar will encourage students to explore ways to movement which are natural and individual. Omar is one of the most creative and skillful dancers from the first generation of the tango revival of the mid 1980's. During his month long visit to Colorado in February of this year, Omar closely observed our community. Based upon his observations Omar developed a curriculum and an approach which he felt would benefit all dancers.
