Susana Miller teaches milonguero or close embrace style of tango danced in the clubs of Buenos Aires. Clarin, the major Bs As newspaper, called Susana one of the four most important influences on tango today, along with Miguel Angel Zotto, Gustavo Naveira and Gerardo Portalea. Susana focuses on posture, axis, grounding, breathing, balance, and sensitivity to the lead and follow. She encourages dancers to develop their own style through knowledge of the music, space and body. Her classes emphasize step quality and rhythm rather than predetermined patterns, encouraging dancers to creatively shape their own language. A native of Buenos Aires, she has been dancing and teaching tango for many years, with annual teaching tours to the U.S. and Europe since 1994. She founded her own tango academy in Buenos Aires and hosts one of B.A.'s most popular tango clubs, El Beso. $30/workshop; $25/workshop if taking more than one * $5 DISCOUNT FOR ADVANCE REGISTRATION (before 7/28) Presented by Reba Perez @ You Should Be Dancing, 412 8th Ave @ 31st St, 4th Fl (212) 244-0011
