Friday, June 22, and every 4th Friday, in Fairfax,
25 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge toll plaza. The
dance party, from 9 pm to midnight, follows an introductory
lesson at 8:00. Beginners love the friendly atmosphere;
advanced dancers appreciate the great music. While residents
of the North Bay save time and bridge fare, Fairfax is also an easy drive from
the East Bay and the City.

    Directions: from 101, take the Sir Francis Drake exit,
drive 5 miles west to Fairfax, One block beyond the
Fairfax ODonnell Nursery/Pancho Villa Restaurant
intersection, jog over to Broadway, passing the Fairfax
Theatre, turn right at the next corner (Bolinas Road),
go a couple of blocks and turn right onto Park between the
Town Hall and the 7-11 store. The Fairfax Womans Club
is at 46 Park, at the end of the block on the right.

Biography /Pampa Cortis /

This internationally acclaimed artist has been seducing audiences across
the world for many years, performing Argentine tango and other
traditional dances of his native Argentina.

Cortis was part of the highly respected Ballet Folklorico Nacional under
the direction of the top Argentine Master, Santiago Ayala, as well
as part of the Ballet Folklorico Argentino of Mario Machaco. He later
toured Argentina and South America with his own troupe, Ballet Pampa. In
tango, Pampa Cortis toured the world as dancer or choreographer of
several
shows, the best known of them in the USA being  Forever Tango.

Pampa Cortis keeps performing, directing, and teaching tango and
traditional Argentine dances for social occasions as well as for
professional performing. His company, Tango A Media Luz, successfully
produced the shows !Asi Se Baila El Tango! and the recent
!Argentina Dances! Tango & Folklore, which will be presented for
the second time in San Francisco next October.

Pampa and his partner, Valeria, teach regular classes in the Bay Area
and travel in the United States and Europe as guest teachers. Other
teaching credits include the University of Stanford, the University of
Santa Clara, and the University of California Berkeley.
