Reba Perez Proudly Presents Graciela Gonzalez: Tango
'Workshops that Will Change the Way NY Dances'

Sat, Nov 3
12noon-2PM: WOMEN'S TECHNIQUE, GENERAL - Open Level
RECOMMENDED FOR BEGINNERS-PROFESSIONAL
Designed to perfect the women's technique in terms of posture, balance,
attitude of the body, forward and backward ochos and giros (turns).
2:15-4:15PM: WOMEN'S TECHNIQUE, ADORNOS Int/Adv/Pro
Perfect the technique, posture and balance needed to dissociate the leg free
of weight from the rest of the body and to integrate it through
embellishments into the structure of the dance lead by the man, in tango,
waltz and milonga. Further, it has the objective to develop the role of the
woman through sensuality, musicality and attitude, so that the embellishment
will become an expression of a necessity fully integrated in the dance.
4:30-6:30PM: ADORNOS, CONTINUED
Int/Adv/Pro

Sun, Nov 4
12-2PM: MEN'S TECHNIQUE, Int/Adv/Pro
Refinement of the lead: directed to those who want to perfect their body
lead, posture, balance and walk. It is also meant for those women who want
to correct the man lead (in its way, intensity and intention) from the point
of view of the female interpretation of the dance. Practice is done dancing
in both roles to understand the lead and how to receive it. The work uses a
logical structure of steps through which participants acquire the basic
elements that will allow them to master improvisation and gain freedom in
the dance.
2:15-4:15PM: THE MEETING OF LEAD AND FOLLOW: 2 hrs of Women's or Men's
Technique REQUIRED
4:30-6:30: COMMUNICATION & BEHAVIOR ON THE DANCE FLOOR - Open level

Biography
Graciela Gonzales is known all over the world, particularly among the most
traditional tangueros in Buenos Aires for her skill in integrating new ideas
to the traditional elegant salon tango. She started dancing in 1988. Her
teachers, myths of the argentine tango, were Pupy Castello, Pepito
Avellaneda, Antonio Todaro, Gustavo Naveira, Juan Bruno, Tete' Nito and Elba
among many others.

Her teaching is completely innovative, the result of years of work dedicated
to the study and understanding of the body language combined with thorough
analysis of what she felt while dancing with the great milongueros. Her
objective: bring the body to assume natural postures through feelings and
body memory, then through rational understanding transform them into more
technical postures. In this way the student can characterize the dance with
his or her own personality creating a unique personal style.

One of the most important of the new tango generation, her research gave
birth to the first SEMINARIOS DE TECNICA PARA MUJERES (1994) and MARCACION
PARA HOMBRES (1995) known all over the world. In 1997 she created her first
group of tango teachers with schools in different countries (Argentina,
Israel, Brazil, Germany and Italy) to promote the investigation and
diffusion of the Argentine tango all over the world through her method. She
taught in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Holland, Belgium, Italy,
Israel, United States and Chile. She was a guest artist at "Stanford Tango
Week 95", "Nora's Tango Week 98", CITA 99, "Tangomagia 2000" (Amsterdam) and
"Tango en Flor 2000" (Zurich)
