³The Center for Cultural presents an impassioned evening of tango
dance and music at a milonga (tango dance party) to remember²
New York Tango Trio Dance Friday Friday Nov. 2nd at 8:00pm
Tango workshop starts at 7:00pm with Javier Bucher
The passion of Gardel, the subtlety of Piazzola it¹s tango! The
New York Tango Trio, with David Alsina (bandoneon), Pablo Aslan
(contrabass) and Ethan Iverson (piano), plays it straight. This
is tango direct from the clubs of Buenos Aries. This gifted trio
weaves exotic melodies from tangos spanning the hundred-year
history of the dance. The music is complex and sensuous, full of
the subtle rhythmic nuances. Come, dance and surrender to the
passion that is tango.
³ melancholic, defiant, sweet and aggressive.² Lyrichord
>From Rosario, Argentina, Javier Bucher was born in 1963 and began
studying Argentine folkloric dancing at age 11. He has performed
with the Official Ballet of Argentina and at the National
Festival of Argentine Folklore. For the last 15 years he has
danced and taught Argentine Tango in Rosario, the second largest
city in Argentina.
Javier will teach a beginning tango class which will give new
dancers and more experienced dancers a vocabulary of movements
which can be used to create a tango language. Participants will
gain a comfort level with basic phrases of tango movements,
allowing them to dance to the New York Tango Trio later in the
evening.
