Nestor Ray should be declared an Argentine national treasure. He is a true
"milonguero's milonguero"-recognized by his peers as one of the great social
tango dancers in Buenos Aires. He began dancing tango at the age of 9 in the
barrios of Buenos Aires. His style was honed in the 1950s and reflects the
rhythmic, playful tango of that period. Over the years he won many
competitions in the most prestigious local milongas and danced on several
popular TV programs. In the 1990s, actor Robert Duvall selected Nestor as
his personal teacher and brought him to teach in the U.S. For the past 10
years he has taught and performed all over the U.S. and Europe. Linda
Valentino has been dancing tango for 12 years and teaching for over 6 years.
She has made 10 trips to Buenos Aires to study with many of the renowned
master teachers, including Miguel Zotto & Milena Plebs, Osvaldo Zotto &
Lorena Ermocida, Carlos Copello & Alicia Monti, Julio Balmaceda & Corina De
La Rosa, Gachi Fernandez & Sergio Cortazzo, Nestor Ray and Eduardo
Arquimbau. She emphasizes good technique for social dancing, including
posture, position, effective leading and following, improv-isation, and
understanding and dancing to the music. For information call Linda at (323)
650-0509 or visit our website at www.apurotango.com.
