Angel Garcia and Rosa Collantes

Stars of Ballet Pampas, New York City, and of "Camila" the tango musical
staged recently in the Walnut Square Theatre,  specializing in Argentine
tango and folkloric dance, as well as innovators in  "tango salsa", will be
visiting the  San Francisco Bay area,  February 6-13th.  Angel's classes
consistently sell out, so be sure to sign up ahead of time.   For more

Their schedule of workshops will be as follows:
Wed.  Feb. 6th:
7:30-9:30 p.m.  Choreography I (Part I of a 2 part series)  Individual help
with developing a sensational, sizzling choreographic routine. Setting the
stage, choosing the music, telling the story, dramatic and comic elements of
the dance.  (Bring video camera)
Lake Merritt Dance Center, Multi-purpose room 2nd floor, 200 Grand Ave (at
Harrison), free parking in adjacent lot.
Pre-registration required.  $30/person one workshop, $55 for both.

Thurs. Feb. 7th
7-8:30  Mariposa Tango Club, Beginners and Intermediate Classes in Tango
Salon, Exhibition later.  Milonga party 8:30-12 p.m. Class only $10, Class
and milonga $14.

Friday, feb. 8th:
7-8:30 p.m. Accelerated Beginning Tango
(especially for Salsa or Ballroom Dancers)
8:30-10 p.m. Mixing it Up: Salsa Moves for Tango Dancers and vice versa

4-6 p.m.  Milonga with traspie and variations  $27

Sunday, feb 10th:
2-4 p.m.  Embellishments for women (This is also a great class for leaders
so they can learn to lead embellishments.  Any man with valid BATango card
is invited to take this class at no charge, but must pre-register)
4-6 p.m.  Tango Vals with giros and change of direction
Each workshop $27 ($2 discount with BATango card).

Mon. Feb 11th:
7-8:30 p.m.  Argentine folkloric dances including the chacarera - a "must
know" for visitors to Argentina
8:30-10 p.m. Intermediate Salsa II (Salsa I or the equivalent should be
taken first).
$20 each, The Tango Studio, Berkeley, pre-registration required.

Wed. feb. 13th:
6:15-7:45 p.m.  Beginners tango (1st class of a 6 week series with guest
teachers including Yvonne Meissner, Glenn Corteza and Jorge Nel) Series: $40
for Claremont members, $50 non-members.  Drop-in single class: $10/$15.

8:30-10:30 p.m. Choreography II  (2nd of a 2 part series).  A further
exploration and refinement of choreography I.  Fluidity, breathing,
stagecraft.  Putting the final touches on your routine.  (Be sure to bring
your video camera as we will use that as a tool for feedback and also to
capture for memories.)

Demos:  There will be exhibition dances at Glass Kat , Jillians, and Club
Cocomo for salsa and at Broadway, and the Verdi Club for tango and Argentine

Private lessons: $75/ hour for one instructor, $100 / hour both instructors.
