Introduction Introducing Tango Colectivo The first New Zealand Tango festival Designed to bring the New Zealand Tango community together, the festival will be held on the 14th,15th and 16th of June 2002, at Whakapapa Village, National Park.
This 3 day event will include a timetable full of dance workshops, with 6 instructors from around the country, 2 milongas, and a Tango ball with live music in New Zealand's most magnificent colonial hotel, the Grand Chateau. Bravura, who performed in the New Zealand Arts festival will be performing live at the ball. We have a beginners program for people who have never danced before. By the end of the course you will have learned the basic steps, fallen in love with tango and met people from all over the country who feel the same. Come alone, in pairs or as a group and learn to tango. Extra activities will include stretch yoga classes, foot massages, bush walks and soaking in the spas and saunas provided at the lodges. There will be a professional photographer, associated retailers and a Tango music listening station. The cost for the event will be between $170 and $190 per person (see registration form on the Web site for details) and includes a timetable packed full of classes, extra activities and two nights of dancing at the Chateau. You can register by printing off the registration form and sending it in with your cheque, remember that the price is cheaper if you register before the 17th of May. The event will begin at midday on Friday the 14th of June, and finish with a milonga and performance on Sunday the 16th of June at 5.30 pm.
