Oscar Mandagaran Class Update
Oscar has been extraordinarily popular and fortunately will be able to stay on in the Bay area for several additional weeks after the show "Malambo" closes on May 26th. He will be available for private lessons and workshops. This is his schedule as it now stands for May 27-June 10. Sunday May 26th 11-1 p.m. Tango Studio, Berkeley (4th of a 6 part series), Advanced level. A sampling of Oscar's now famous choreography from "Forever Tango" with insights on his secrets to creating your own tango from the heart. Monday, May 27th 6:45-8 p.m. Claremont Hotel and Resort, Beginner/advanced beginner series (3rd of a 6 part series) Members $45/ non-members $60 series. Single class drop-in price $15/$20. 41 Tunnel Rd., Berkeley. 8:30-10:30 p.m. Tango Studio, Berkeley, (5th of a 6 part series), Advanced level. Focus on "Adornments for men and women with different orchestras of tango. Musicality exercises. Deeper understanding of breath, body movements and communication between partners." Single class price $30. Pre-registration required. Wednesday and Thursday, May 29th and 30th 7-9 p.m. Tango Studio, Berkeley. Explore "milonga" with Oscar in this two part series. These will be his only workshops on milonga while here this year. He will cover rhythm, posture, elements of cayengue, traspie, difficulties in leading and following a quick milonga, milonga in close embrace, and of course teach us some of those inimitable "Oscar" combinations. Intermediate/advanced level. Pre-registration required. Single workshop $30, both for $55 with pre-payment. Saturday, June 1st 8-9 p.m. Oscar teaching the class before the Golden Gate milonga, Golden Gate Yacht Club at end of yacht Rd. (on the marina), SF. $14 class and milonga, $10 milonga alone. These will be his only workshops on vals cruzado while here this year. He will cover rhythm and musicality, the crucial elements of waltz, posture, differences in slow and quick waltz, giros and turns in waltz, subtleties in the embrace, and of course teach us some of those quintessential "Oscar" waltz combinations. Intermediate/advanced level. Pre-registration required. Single workshop $30, both $55 with pre-payment. Friday, June 7th 8-9 p.m. Oscar teaching the class before the Monte Cristo milonga.
