For Benjamin and others looking for information on tango in Boston, I'd like to recommend two excellent sources of information that have been overlooked:
The first is DanceNet, which is by far the most comprehensive listing of all types tango information for Boston and the surrounding areas of Western Mass., Providence, and the rest of New England. The website is www.havetodance.com/tango. Here you'll find not just a calendar, but also information on milongas and practicas, classes, workshops, community, etc.! The second is a weekly calendar of tango events for Boston and Providence delivered directly to you by email. To receive this calendar, just send a note to [email protected] asking to be added to their list. I think this resource will also provide the service of posting a short note to their subscribers if youre looking for transportation. There are also two Yahoo-based email discussion groups that might be of interest. One is for [email protected] and the other is [email protected]. Both are tango-related groups where members can announce events, discuss issues, look for practice partners, seek a ride when going to out-of-town events, etc. In addition to the events you mentioned for your trip, there is also an all- night Dress-Down Milonga in Providence, RI on Saturday, June 8. It begins at 9:30 pm and has no ending time, so you can dance til you drop! In terms of transportation for your upcoming visit: For Wednesday, you can get there by bus from Harvard Sq., Cambridge. Bus #72 takes you to the corner of Huron & Aberdeen; continue walking on Huron about 5 minutes and the VFW will be on your left (look for a rocket standing outside building). For Friday, take the subway (called the T in Boston) to the Central Sq. stop (Cambridge), which is on the Red Line. For Saturday, it will be best to try to find a ride to Providence, RI since there will probably be no trains back to Boston when you're finished dancing.
