Hola Tangueros: This Friday, June 7th there will be a very special fundraising milonga for Nestor Ray, a very special milonguero and maestro. Nestor's surgery has been rescheduled for this Wednesday, June 5, at which time the doctors will remove a tumor from his esophagus. We will not know if the tumor is benign or malignant until after the surgery. All of the profit from this Friday's milonga will go toward paying Nestor's medical costs. The milonga will start at 9:30 p.m. and go until 1 a.m. A delicious Italian dinner will be served and there will be several exhibitions, including the devine Guillermina Quiroga and Anton Gazenbeek, Raul and Ana Maria and some special surprise guests, plus dancing to the best selection of classic tango, milonga and waltz. Cost is $20 per person. Location is Hollywood Dance Center, 817 N. Highland Ave., 1-1/2 blocks north of Melrose.
