SUSANA MILLER from Buenos Aires
June 22-23, 2002
Ithaca, NY
About Susana
Susana Miller has distinguished herself as an “anthropologist” of Argentine tango, studying and transmitting to her students an authentic style that is danced in the crowded clubs of central Buenos Aires. This social form -- known as milonguero style, tango de confiteria, apilado, or simply close-embrace style -- emphasizes rhythm, musicality and the connection between partners, using compact steps that encourage creative improvisation within the limited space of a social dance floor. Deceptively simple, the milonguero style is rich in subtlety, internal communication, and passion.
