Angel Garcia-Clemente Argentine Tango and Salsa September 16- October 25, 2002 Study with Angel Garcia-Clemente, the popular star and choreographer of "Ballet Las Pampas" from New York City, the host of "Milonga de Angel" and see why his students say: "Angel is one of NYC's most beloved teachers. His technique is so clean and clear it stands out, and many of us can tell who's studied with him. His personality is sunny and he makes everyone he dances with look graceful." Performance workshop series (5 hours per week for 5 weeks): Have fun and excitement while learning to dance a combination of social tango and "tango fantasia" (stage tango). Angel will be choreographing a cabaret-type tango show lasting about 30 min. which will be showcased at a special milonga. These workshops will include information on selecting music for your performance, characterization and drama in tango, presentation, fantasia patterns including jumps, leg wraps and finales. Students are required to attend at least 25 hours of practice and classtime over a 5 week period. Performance on Oct. 25th. Total cost $295 includes a free ticket to milonga and performance. Classes will be on Sat. and Sun. 12-2:30 p.m. except for Oct 5-6 and 21-22. 1st class on Sept. 21st at the Tango Studio, Berkeley. Subsequent schedule and meeting place to be arranged at first class. The last class will be a special class on beginning tango waltz. (There will be an outing to a tango club for all students at the end of the series. Price of admission not included in the series.) Drop in single class $15/$20 Argentine Tango for advanced beginners and intermediates 6:30- 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 16- Oct. 21 Use the first hour to warm up and review and stay on to learn new patterns and more advanced technique, including the lean, the carousel, the parada, and ganchos. The last class will focus on more advanced tango waltz steps. (There will be an outing to a tango club for all students at the end of the series. Price of admission not included in the series.)
