Please remember about the special milonga that Oscar Mandagaran is hosting this Sunday evening at the exquisite Claremont Hotel, 41 Tunnel Rd. Berkeley.
Oscar will be teaching a class in the classic Argentine folkdance which is danced during the breaks in tango in Buenos Aires and often here as well, the "chacarera" and if time permits also some salon tango, 8-9:15 p.m. After that DJ Roberto Riobo has kindly volunteered to spin tango tunes for dancing until midnight. We have special entertainment donated by Gigi Gamble singing Argentinian songs and Odile Lavault (of Baguette Quartet and Tango No 9) accompanying on the accordion. They are both fantastic. Cost: $15 class and $15 milonga or both for $25. And don't forget the proceeds from this evening go to a very charitable cause. Oscar will be donating all his earnings from this benefit to help feed the hungry children in his home province of Missiones, Argentina. There will be a card for folks to sign at the milonga and if they wish to leave their email, Oscar will send them photos of him with the children later this year. For those who are unable to come to the milonga but would still like to donate something please send a check to: Oscar Mandagaran's Fund for Children, c/o S. Ling, 30 the Uplands, Berkeley, CA 94705. Finally, with regard to Oscar's classes. Most of his private hours are filled, but there were a couple of last-minute cancellations, so if you NEED a class before he leaves August 5, call 510-655-3585. Also the Advanced Ttuesday I series originally scheduled for Lake Merritt has been moved to the Tango Studio, so pre-registration for this class is now required. We could use a few good leaders! Thanks and see you soon! Stella :>)))
