Dance of the Heart presents Tango innovators Mauricio Castro and Brigitta
Winkler in a week of workshops September 24-30, 2003, exploring the full
range of tango possibilities!

Mauricio Castro is an internationally recognized pioneer in new ways of
teaching and understanding tango. He is in the vanguard of a new generation
of Tango teachers that is bringing true innovation to the way Tango is being
taught. His method uses the natural design and movements of the body to be
able to perform the various Tango movements in a free and effortless
fashion. From his work with the Nuevo Tango concepts of Gustavo Naviera and
Fabian Salas
Mauricio has applied his academic work with music and human movement to
design a completely unique approach to teaching Tango. Mauricio excels at
teaching improvisation. He won't just tell you to not use the steps in the
order they were taught, he will actually teach you how to use each movement
without pre-design and teach you exercises that will truly make you
improvise.
Mauricio is the founder of a group of young Tango teachers called 'Tango
Discovery'. With their new concepts they are revitalizing the Buenos Aires
Tango scene among the current generation of dancers. Mauricio is also the
author of two Tango books and has created a series of CD ROMS for
teaching Tango.

Brigitta Winkler is a fantastic multidimensional tango teacher, social
dancer, choreographer and performer. Her innovative blend of Body-Mind
Centering with Tango, and her long string of accomplishments at the heart of
the dynamic Berlin tango scene offer a fantastic complement to Mauricio's
work. Brigitta was the primary organizer of the Bridge to the Tango tours
to Berlin. Equally at home in both the close-embrace, milonguero-style
tango and the innovative work of the Nuevo Tango language, Brigitta has a
perspective unparalleled in contemporary tango. We first heard of
Mauricio's work from Brigitta, and she has worked to bring him to Berlin to
share his fascinating tango perspective. Colorado is fortunate to host
these two dynamic teachers in their first pairing in the USA!
