We are bringing together some of the top US DJs and US teachers of Social-Style tango, and will have the live music of Denver's own Extasis tango quartet both in concert (modern) and for dancing (tendency toward Pugliese style). Special "early-arrival" instructor this year is Yvonne Meissner of Amsterdam. Again, the highlight has to be Tango Colorado's outdoor picnic & milonga under the sunset in the Grecian columned pavilion at Cheesman Park, where we're likely to get over 300 dancers. (Class Topics are listed below) The notable thing about the class topics is the emphasis on Musicality, Floorcraft & Vocabulary rather than Figures. These are PRACTICAL classes for social dancers, useful for all levels. In fact, many local teachers from around the US attend the classes to be part of the fun and to pick up ideas for their own curriculum. This is where you meet people for dancing later on, and where we build up a shared concept of social tango for crowded floors. In years past this has been a very nice formula. If the Friday milonga at the Mercury Cafe is a bit hectic, by Saturday & Sunday night, so many people have worked on floor-craft and navigation skills that the social dancing is really smooth for the rest of the weekend.
