Musicality and Expression of the Dance This is a special opportunity for all who want to enhance their appreciation of Argentine Tango music and develop expressive techniques for social, improvisational dancing with Hector del Curto, a leading musician and performer of the bandoneón, and Mariela Franganillo, one of Manhattan's most highly regarded dancer/instructors.
Sunday, October 12, 2003 1:00pm - 2:30pm: Musicality of the Dance with Hector and Mariela Using a combination of listening, rhythmic and movement exercises, explore the structure and meaning of the music. Improve the way you hear a Tango, adding a new dimension to your ability to perceive the subtleties within the music. Take your dance skills to a higher, more sensitive level. 2:30pm - 4:00pm: Expression of the Dance with Mariela Improve the elegance of your dance through exercises and figures focusing on quality of movement. Mariela will concentrate on styling, timing and coordination within the structure of the music.
