For those of you planning to travel to Boston this weekend for a view of our spectacular Fall Foliage and of course, to dance the weekend away with workshops taught by Fabian Salas and at our La Milonga Saturday night, we have some useful information for out-of-towners. Most importantly, since this is high season for Boston, accomodation is scarce, but we managed to locate some rooms in the area. Best Western (800-780-7234) reported rooms available in nearby Concord, Mass (about 15-20 minute drive to Cambridge). Tage Inn (800-322-8243 [TAGE]) also have rooms available in Andover, Mass (30 minutes by car from Cambridge). If you should call them, make sure to ask if there are cancellations at Best Western Tria (20 min walk from the Milonga & workshops), or Tage Inn Boston/Somerville (30 min by public transportation). Also, check with the Cambridge Gateway Inn at 617-661-7800, which is also within walking distance from the Milonga/workshops). For the women who don't mind a dormitory-like atmosphere at relatively low cost (between $50 and $60 for single rooms), the Boston YWCA (617-375-2524) reported rooms available in the downtown area (40 min by bus/train, 15-20 minutes by cab from milonga/workshops).
Finally, for those coming from NYC who don't wish to take the expensive shuttle from La Guardia or catch the Acela Express Amtrak, you can get to Boston via the Fungwah Bus Service (www.fungwahbus.com-212-925-8889 or 718-438-3300) for about $10 a ride ($20 round trip). The bus departs from Chinatown, NYC and arrives at Chinatown, Boston, about the same distance as that from the YWCA to the Tango Scene. We hope to see you all this weekend. At last look outside my window, 40% of the maple leaves are bright orange, red and yellow. The peak is on its way!
