ABOUT COSTA AZUL ADVENTURE RESORT This hidden paradise is 30 minutes from the Puerto Vallarta airport, and 50 minutes from downtown PV. It is in the tiny village of San Francisco, or “ San Pancho,” as the locals call it. Until 1981, the village had no electricity, and was a simple fishing village with the natural “palapa” huts that are seen in many coastal areas of Mexico. The Costa Azul resort is completely congruent with the rustic and wild beauty of Mexican jungle, with open porches and a palapa (palm frond and rushes) roof on the large dining area, immediately on the ocean. You can have a margarita, watch the sunset, see the dolphins jumping, and feel sweet sea breezes while you wait for dinner! The baby sea turtles are often released during our time there, which is a particular delight and honor. These protected hatchlings are from females who are some of the last few surviving species along the western Mexico coastline. We get to accompany their march to the sea, ensuring their safety from land predators, and send them wishes for thriving in their ocean home. Mexican Fiesta night is FABULOUS! There are mariachis, a huge buffet of delicious food, folk dancing from the different provinces in Mexico, tequila shots, and other delights.
