Dance of the Heart is excited to announce a new venue for tango in Boulder where, in concert with dinner and a full dessert/coffee bar service, we will be teaching classes, performing tango music and dance with selected guests, and hosting a practica on a weekly, on-going basis! Please welcome "Wednesday Night BURNT TOAST TANGO!"
Starting this week, Wednesday, October 29, Dance of the Heart and Burnt Toast Restaurant are proud to introduce BURNT TOAST TANGO! Burnt Toast Restaurant is situated just west of Broadway and the CU campus in Boulder "on the Hill" in a charming old refurbished Victorian house, complete with wood floors, bay windows and a delectable menu (they're ALREADY famous for their breakfast/lunch menu!). Our intermediate/advanced class this Wednesday will be a special "electronically enhanced" class focused on mastering the rhythm of the Milonga. Many of you have probably experienced the feeling of not being "fast enough" for specific milongas, feeling as if you can't quite keep up. We are determined to resolve that awkward feeling. In keeping with the inventive, marvelous approaches ala Brigitta Winkler and Mauricio Castro and thanks to the use of some awesome new techno-toys, we've developed a creative, delightful and HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL way of teaching milonga so that you can master this energetic rhythm joyfully, creatively, with delicious connection to your partner/s intact AND on compas (on-the-beat)! Here's the regular BURNT TOAST TANGO schedule (subject to modification) for this Wednesday night, October 29: >From 6pm to 8pm, a special dinner/dessert menu will be served in an Argentine ambience (the dining area will be swathed in candle-light, the walls adorned by some of our vast tango artwork collection and "greatest hits for listening" tango music will be playing gently on CD in the background). >From 7pm to 8pm, the CD's will be mixed with live tango music performance and tango dance exhibitions by Dance of the Heart principals Deb and Brian, along with occasional guest performers -- anticipate exciting, creative and fabulous surprises continually introduced so performances will be fresh/different each and every week! >From 8 to 8:30pm, we'll clear some tables for a Dance of the Heart beginners/fundamentals tango class for $5 -- absolutely no experience or partner necessary! Note to experienced dancers: this brief class is a great warm-up for the class that follows! >From 8:30 to 10pm, Dance of the Heart hosts an intermediate/advanced "tango special topics" class (see topic above) for $12. As some of you already know, in the future we'll be hosting multi-session special-topics classes here so we can explore selected tango mysteries in greater depth - the small space will eventually require advance registration, but for now, just stop on by. >From 10 to 11pm, we'll have open tango dancing and a "guided practice" for $2. If you pay for either (or both) of the classes, practica is free. Beginners are welcome to watch the intermediate class and join practica when it begins at 10pm. It is not necessary to commit to dinner to gain entry to the classes or practica. PERO!!! We strongly urge you to NOT skip an opportunity to sample the wonderful food...the Burnt Toast pastries are, in particular, not to be missed (purchase a dessert/drink coupon for just $6 to refresh yourself before/during/after classes!). Imagine bringing a shy but willing pal (or potential sweetheart?!) to dinner where you'll enjoy superb food and service enhanced by a stimulating tango performance. Next, support/accompany them through the 30 minute intro lesson, then encourage them to relax (give 'em a break!) over dessert while you participate in the intermediate/advanced class. Then invite them to enjoy their first steps in social tango during the following practica! And that's just ONE scenario! We hope we've tempted you to join us in inaugurating our first Wednesday night BURNT TOAST TANGO event!!! We look forward to many more and hope you'll play a continuous part as it develops into the future. Not only is this a great substitute for a Friday or Saturday date night out, it's also a fabulous opportunity to introduce friends and/or family to your Argentine Tango obsession in a charming, warm, relaxed setting featuring great food and lively entertainment. Who knows, maybe you'll be responsible for creating additional tango addicts... See you there!
