Kara Wenham's returns to the Midwest
during November 2003 for workshops in Chicago, Milwaukee and Madison, sponsored
by WindyCityTango, Inc. in Chicago and TangoConexion in Wisconsin.

We remember the young, lithe brunette who danced with
us at milongas and for us in Tango Passion performances. Kara left
Chicago a couple of years ago to explore the world; her first stop was
Buenos Aires where she intended to spend a few weeks. The city, its
people, its music and its heritage of Argentine tango captivated her. But,
as many of us wish we could, Kara decided to remain there and let it
capture her tango soul. Her life now revolves around Argentine tango; she
has been studying and now teaching and dancing professionally in Buenos
Aires since she departed Chicago. Together with Nina Tatarowicz
(formerly of Milwaukee) she operates Encuentro Tango, providing personalized
travel guide services to tangophiles visiting our mecca. Kara s
exploration of the Argentine tango has led to a profound understanding not
only of the structure of the dance but also of the distinct masculine
and feminine roles, the technical elements and the fundamental
connection of the embrace. As an accomplished follower as well as leader, she
teaches these concepts with energy and enthusiasm, has an exceptional
talent for communicating her ideas to the needs of each individual, and a
sharp eye for detail. No matter your level of dancing, you will find
Kara s instruction provides the tools and elements you need to progress.
Kara has adapted her own style from those she considers among her most
influential teachers: Leandro Palou and Andrea Misse as well as Gustavo
Naveira, Chicho Frumboli, Roberto Herrera, Pablo Villarraza and Dana
Frigoli. She currently is part of an investigation group comprised of
professional teachers and dancers in Buenos Aires. Coming from the same
technique, they are able to explore both the dance in its social form
as well as on stage. They also are considering different teaching
styles and developing tools to facilitate the process of learning tango.
Kara teaches in three prominent dance studios in Buenos Aires and is
planning her own teaching tours for the Far East and Europe in early 2004.
Join WindyCityTango, Inc. in welcoming Kara back to Chicago; her
premier will be at the Brango on November 2. Don t miss the unique
experience of watching and studying with this graceful and insightful teacher.
An interview with Kara Wenham appears in the November 2003 issue of
