An coming soon: SPECIAL CLASSES & WORKSHOPES WITH NORBERTO EL PULPO ESBREZ AND LUIZA PAES: "The dynamic Norberto "el Pulpo" Esbrez is a third generation tanguero, who has been dancing tango for 16 years. His father and grandfather were both respected bandoneon players, and his own feeling for the music is evident in his work. His nickname, "el Pulpo" - the octopus, comes from his unique fluid style, which uses complicated displacements, ganchos, enganches and the intertwining of the dancers4 legs. His tango steps were first practiced with rock & roll which gave him agility and a very relaxed, almost casual approach to his dance style. He is renowned in Buenos Aires and all over the world as the "King of the Ganchos" for his ability and thorough understanding of the leg work in Tango. He has created and added inumerous movements to the tango vocabulary and is continually developing his innovative technique and style. For that reason he is considered today the most creative of the tango dancers. Luiza Paes has worked and taught with El Pulpo since 1999. She has studied music since she was six, and has worked in musical education and vocal technique. she teaches a creative women4s technique that emphasizes the role of the follower and her connection to the leader, exploring receptiveness and availability for improvisation. Norberto and Luiza taught at CITA in 2001 and 2002, and have worked in Brasil, Europe (France, Germany, Netherlands, Russia, Bulgaria, Spain, Slovenia, Austria and Italy) and all over the United States, including the Las Vegas Tango Festival 2001, 2002 and 2003.
