Dear Helaine could you help me spread the following anonouncement in media you have access to? For a private party of about 50-100 people on May 1st in Houston, Texas, i'm looking for musicians and one Tango dance couple who can do a performance together. The dance couple should be of a a very good level of stage performance. The musicians should be able to play for these dancers as well as for a salon de tango. Musicians who, part from a high level play other music as well, like Klezmer, Roumanian gypsy, Jazz, and other rhythms for a great dance party are even more encouraged to respond. But we could also have one good tango ensemble and another group thats better for the rest of the party. Sound technique and floor will be of real good quality. Those who seem to meet these qualifications and would like to do this gig are kindly asked to respond. I most likely won't know local Texas dancers and musicians, not even when they're operating on a high level. I ask them to have some patience with me there. Before my client and I can decide about who to ask, we nned to get a good idea of their skills. We may ask the musicians to send a demo, could be done with mp3's sent over the internet.
From the dancers we need good images, preferrably video or Quicktime movies,
for instance presented over the internet. We think we can pay a professional's price. However their price will be asked first when we know who we'd like to invite for the second round of our search / interviews. If it is necessary we have to fly the artists in to Houston, we will do so and for some of their extra time could probably be paid for as well.
