Argentine Tango Workshops given by Jorge Torres Saturday April 10, 2004 Dancesport 101 Dance Studio
A disciple of Norberto Guichanduc, Rodolfo Dinzel, Pepito Avellaneda and Antonio Todaro, Jorge began his career in the prestigious Colon Theater before graduating as a teacher of dances. Since then, he has participated in such shows as "Imagenes", "Tango y Añoranzas", "La Pesada del Tango", "Tangokinesis", "Tanguisimo 91", "Tango Tango", "Viva Tango", "Tango Passion", "Buenos Aires Tango Show", "Tango Seduccion" and in May of 1995 he became Captain Dancer in "Forever Tango" - leading the artistic affairs of the companies stationed in Broadway and the one touring around the world. In 1998, Jorge was a Tony Award nominee for best choreography for his work in "Forever Tango". He was also nominated by the Outer Critics Circle and for four Awards including that of best choreography by the Drama Desk. Under the direction of Luis Bravo, he has recorded with Karen Kain"AEvaristo Carriego" for CBC, Canadian Broadcasting Company. He has directed shows such as Tokyo's "World Tango Week 2002" and "Tango Legends" summoning the best figures every year. He has been an invited dancer next to the Sexteto Mayor orchestra at the Municipal Theater in Santiago, Chile. He was a judge for the First World Championship of Argentine Tango, that took place last year in the city of Buenos Aires. Currently, he lectures at the University of the Salvador.
