Brooke Burdett returns to Madison for Workshops & Private Lessons May 6-10,2004

Brooke Burdett teaches and performs tango in Buenos Aires and has taught
specialty workshops in more than 15 U.S. and Canadian cities in the past 5
years. She is also known for instructional videos she made with Daniel
Trenner and Mariano Frumboli (better known as "Chicho"). Brooke translates
the world of tango into a language that is accessible to all. An expert leader
AND follower dedicated to improvisation and expression, Brooke has an
innovative teaching style that allows students to be creative from the start
and encourages exploration and play at all levels.

Brooke brings a knowledge that bridges the older and newer generations of tango
dancers. Using both open and closed embrace, she emphasizes proper technique,
relaxed attentiveness and musicality. Through exercises and
sequences, she introduces methods of improvisation and "play" that allow
students to explore the limitless possibilities of this intense and alluring
dance. Some of Brooke's most influential teachers, in addition to Daniel
and Chicho, have been Gustavo Naveira & Olga Besio, Fabian Salas, Graciela
Gonzalez, Florencia Taccetti, Mingo & Esther Pugliese and Juan Bruno. She also
attributes her knowledge to the immeasurable amount of time spent dancing in
the salons of Buenos Aires and the information directly
transmitted to her from her partners on the dance floor. Sean Erwin, the
former senior editor of the Chicago-based Tango Noticias newsletter, referred
to Brooke in an interview as "one of the most innovative and interesting tango
teachers currently touring the US. To read the Noticias interview with
