My husband and I moved from San Francisco (where we organized the Golden Gate Milonga) to Buenos Aires about 7 months ago. After attending the most popular and crowded milongas for sometime, are now trying to find places with good music, good teachers and not as crowded floor spaces. The Tuesday practica at Canning has become our favorite place.
Since February of this year Parakultural has been sponsoring a practica on Tuesdays, in Salon Canning. 1331 Scalabrini Ortiz. During the month of March Chicho Frumboli taught an intermediate and advance class every Tuesday. The classes were a BIG HIT. He is scheduled to return to BA during the Spring here and will again teach on Tuesdays at Canning. What makes this a special practica, and one of the best kept secrets in Buenos Aires is the Live Entertainment, early in the evening. The class is from 9:00 PM until 11:00 PM. cost: $15 pesos In May and June, the class is taught by Ernesto Balmaceda and Stella Baez. Julio Balmaceda & Corina De La Rosa will be teaching in August. The live entertainment includes: On May 18th, Los Reyes del Tango, On June 8th, Orquesta San Souci, and On June 22nd, Color Tango The informal dancing continues until 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning. The dance floor is one of the best in Buenos Aires. Damian Boggio is the DJ. He is one of the best DJ in BA. He is the DJ at Canning on Monday & Fridays, La Nacional on Wednesdays & El Beso on Saturdays.
