In about three weeks I'm going to write a review of the July 22-25 NY Tango festival, about the wonderful, though very short milonga on the Staten Island ferry; the wonderful classes and teachers; and experiencing the New York ambiance. Two of the many interesting classes are "anti-collision" taught by Junior and "Inter-leading" taught by Virginia Kelly.
Instead of grumbling that you missed it, NOW is the time to register as the door is slowly closing on the July 15 advance registration. The complete schedule is available at www.celebratetango.com. The web site includes transit directions to the classes. New York's milongas are listed at www.newyorktango.com. For those who want to see transit maps, the web page is www.mta.nyc.ny.us. For $21, you can buy a transit pass good on buses AND subways for 7 days instead of paying $2 a trip. The subways run 24 hours a day. In fact, October is the 100th anniversary of the opening of the first line (IRT). The rumor is the original equipment is still used on the Times Square-Grand Central Shuttle I'm not the promoter so I don't have any financial interest. But I do have interest that it succeeds so that it will be repeated next year. Michael Ditkoff Washington, DC Less than two weeks to go I'd rather be dancing argentine tango
