Special $55 Adv-beginner/Intermediate workshop pass for newcomers to close-embrace. Full information and credit card payments online at: http://www.tango.org/lab04.html Denver Milonguero Tango Festival "By Dancers, For Dancers" I've assembled the festival class schedule. Mistakes or minor changes are possible, so confirm upon your arrival. The website includes latest details on the festival, class schedules, locations & maps. Please print out personal copies just before you come. The teachers have been selected for their extensive experience teaching "Social, Close-Embrace Tango". They all have produced successful students and are known as strong community builders in their local communities. For the most part, these are 8-14 year teachers who are frequently invited to present workshops around the US; most have been part of the Denver Milonguero Festival staff for the past 4 years. The DJs are among the best in the US, featured at festivals and big weekends around the country: - Christopher Nassoupoulos & Caroline Peattie, San Francisco, CA. - Hsueh-tze Lee, Boston, MA. - Robert Hauk, Portland, OR. - Barbara Durr, Atlanta, GA - Kat MacDonald, San Francisco, CA. - Tom Stermitz, Denver, CO - Robin Thomas, New York, NY - Jennifer Bratt, New York, NY - Stephen & Susan Brown, Dallas, TX - Dan Boccia, Anchorage, AK High Level of Dance! I am absolutely thrilled that the level of close-embrace tango skill in the US and at these festivals has progressed considerably. This means that Adv-Intermediate and Advanced classes will be at a high level, and as a pre-requisite, they assume that you are well-practiced with close-embrace. These classes will not focus on steps, rather on musicality and interpretation. Only the Adv-beginner/Intermediate classes assume you might not be familiar with close-embrace vocabulary; they are appropriate for Intermediate dancers from open embrace styles. In other words, I know that people sometimes promote themselves to get a challenge, but at this festival you can be assured of challenging material and good dance partners in all classes. This is a friendly, open festival. The teachers all make sure you get to know everyone by rotating partners frequently, which helps you meet partners for the milongas. Special this year: Christopher Nassoupoulos & Caroline Peattie are this year's featured, early-arrival teachers. They offer a 4-class, progressive close-embrace workshop on Wed & Thur, Sept 1 & 2 for Intermediates through advanced. Hsueh-tze also comes in early, taking over my classes on Aug 24 & 25 while I am travelling. New this year are workshops on Friday afternoon before the Welcome Milonga. Also new are $5 Beginner & Intermediate classes at the Mercury Cafe focussing on how to dance in crowded milongas.
