Luciana has a tremendous enthusiasm for teaching Argentine Tango and an encyclopedic knowledge of the dance -- an irresistable ball of energy with a mind like a steel trap! Here's the schedule:
Friday Aug 27 will be the big event, class from 8-9:30 "Tango Fundamentals" for all levels, followed by an evening of music, dancing, food, drinks (catered by local argentine restaurants and specialty shops), and special performances (tango and flamenco) in the historic Morton Hall, Ballroom (Westport Road and Baltimore). Saturday workshops (all levels): 1pm"20 ways to walk"; 3pm "Lead and Follow Skills and Connection." Saturday night advanced topics: 8pm "Single Axis Turns", 9 pm "Colgadas" Sunday classes (int/advanced): 1pm "Basics for experienced dancers"; 3pm "Fluid Ganchos and Wraps" All classes are at Morton Hall aka Jack-o-lantern Ballroom (Westport Rd & Baltimore) Pricing: Friday $15, afternoon classes $25 each (45 for 2), Saturday night $20 each, (35 for 2). Packages: beginners: $50 for 3 classes, Full: $125 There is a Sunday night milonga to wrap up the weekend, and all events are located within 2 city blocks, in a neighborhood with lots of shops, restaurants, hotels, and nightlife. There is also potential lodging with local dancers but act fast, as these are filling up. Currently there is a waiting list for private lessons, but friday afternoon and monday am lessons are being prioritized for visiting dancers. KC has a diverse and active tango community with a fabulous live band (Tango Lorca) and some wonderful dance venues.
