ALEX KREBS & FLORENCIA TACCETTI WORKSHOPS OCTOBER 7-10 of 2004
FLORENCIA AND ALEX are here for their 6th series of workshops in the Twin Cities. As dancers, they have fun working together. Each is very musically inclined and they have similar philosophies about how to teach and enjoy social tango. Florencia enjoys Alex s creativity and natural sense of improvisation. Alex appreciates Florencia s wealth of personal experience with many legendary milongueros and dancers. Together, Florencia and Alex bring energy, authenticity, and fun to the study of tango. ALEX KREBS is a tango dancer/teacher/DJ/musician from Portland, Oregon, has been touring around the US and Europe to teach and DJ tango for the past four years. He has co-taught with Argentine tango masters Florencia Taccetti and Luciana Valle of Buenos Aires. As well as being a clear teacher and subtle and musical social dancer Alex has also directed/choreographed Tango al Tiempo and Histoire du Tango in Portland and has danced/choreographed in other shows as well. In his teaching, Alex concentrates on improvisation, a strong physical/spiritual connection with the partner, and on musicality. Has been studying the bandoneon since May 2002, and directs the tango band "Conjunto Berretin"Is completely fanatic about the Argentine tango, and shares his passion with his students. You can find interesting things about Alex on www.tangoberretin.com FLORENCIA TACCETTI started tango in 1985 after her career as a Contemporary dancer in Buenos Aires. she danced in the movie Tango Bar. She has performed with Pablo Veron (Star of the film The Tango Lesson), Gustavo Naveira (The Tango Lesson) Chicho Frumboli and the legendary Pepito Avellaneda. In the last years she co-taught and performed in US with Alex Krebs (Portland, OR) and Tomas Howlin (Bs As) She began teaching tango in Europe in 1998 and has taught continuously in Buenos Aires. Since 1996 her teaching tours have included many cities in the US. In Minneapolis she was teaching regular classes at Four Seasons Dance Studio since 2000 and at the University of Minnesota Dance Program since 2002. In 2004 she is invited by Minnesotan Choreographer Gerry Girouard to collaborate in the choreography of a new Piece that will have a fusion of languages between Tango, Capoeira, Contemporary Dance and Multimedia Arts.
