Dear Ladies and Gentlemen of Tango, This is just a reminder that the registrations for this special tour with Julio Balmaceda and Corina de la Rosa to Buenos Aires, January 16-26, 2004 are due on Saturday, October 30, 2004. If you need a registration form, please e-mail me as soon as possible.
ABOUT THE TOUR: Because Julio and Corina teach in the US only twice a year and only in 2-3 cities, there is very little opportunity for the North American dancers to train with them. For this reason, they wanted to create a special trip for those dancers who know their work and who have been training with them during the last 5 years. The ten day trip to Buenos Aires will include the following: -10 days at a 5-star hotel (double occupancy) - transportation from and to the airport - 5 days 3-4 hours per day classes with Julio and Corina - meeting in the classes with older dancers (friends of Julio's father Miguel Balmaceda), who will share with the group their unique way of dancing tango - entrance to the milongas with J & C - we will go to their favorite places on the nights when live orchestras are playing and/or performances are happening. - transportation to and from the milongas that are located far away from the hotel - dinner and a show - dinner at J & C house and a trip to buy music and order tango shoes from Julio and Corina's shoemaker In addition to that, we will visit two remarkable museums - El Museo de Bellas Artes and El Museo Xul-Solar. El Museo de Bellas Artes has the most comprehensive and unique collection of truly Argentine art, which is very distinct from its European contemporaries. Xul-Solar was a contemporary and a friend of Borges, and el Museo Xul-Solar is dedicated to a remarkable collection of his highly symbolic works. This is truly a gem and, unfortunately, most visitors never find it on their own. This trip is designed for higher level of Intermediate/Advanced dancers and it is open only to 10 couples. If you have been taking Julio and Corina's Intermediate/Advanced, Advanced and Professional level classes and did not have any trouble, then you are qualified to participate in this group. If you do not have a regular partner but still would like to go on this trip, you will need to find a partner who will be willing to go with you and train with you before the trip so that you know that you are able to work together. This trip has a very focused purpose. At its center is the intense training with Julio and Corina. The second purpose is to offer more advanced dancers a special cultural experience that is usually not possible due to the time constraints. It takes a long time to find things on your own when in Buenos Aires. With this group, it will be a very focused experience where you will know which milongas to go to (with J & C of course!) and how to spend your time well not only with tango, but simply being in Buenos Aires. WHAT: Intensive Training in Buenos Aires with Julio Balmaceda and Corina de la Rosa WHEN: January 16-26, 2005. COST: $850 per person (includes everything mentioned above), you have to book your own flight. PARTICIPANTS: 10 High Level Intermediate/Advanced tango couples from the US. REGISTRATION DEADLINE: October 30, 2004 Those inquisitive dancers who wish to explore other places than Buenos Aires after this trip, will have an opportunity to book very inexpensive trips to Argentina's most spectacular destinations such as Mendoza (the wine country), Salta (with the train in the clouds), Iguasu (remarkable waterfall located on he border of Argentina and Brazil), Gracier Perito Moreno, Bariiloche or any other place that you may wish to explore. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can answer any questions you may have. This will be a fabulous trip with lots of training, dancing, and a very special experience of the beautiful Buenos Aires with its tango scene and its art and architecture. My very best regards to every one of you, Nina Nina Pesochinsky Tangoneando Dance Company Tango Maverick Enterprises 720/434-4342
