Esmeralda¹s Tango and Tapas ---friendly, relaxing--a tangueros' place to hang--dance with wonderful dancers, eat, schmooze, drink!!
Every single Sunday, rain or shine, hell or high water at this neat club/ tapas bar/restaurant, a charming loungy-dining area, fine wood floor, couches, banquettes, and an endlessly long attractive bar for eating, drinking or just viewing. It's ESMERALDA'S TANGO AND TAPAS at SESSION 73, every single Sunday eve, at 73rd and 1st Ave. from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. With its big, front windows inviting people to peer, non-tangoers are coming in for classes, making it possible to enlarge the tango community in the area. But even if you are not in the area, it is worth a trip, it is so wonderfully warm with terrific music Yesim programs for us. $10 admission includes a beginner¹s class at 5:30. but there are spaces for others to dance in just as soon as you can grab a partner.
