By now, you have probably heard the very sad news that Pampa's only son, Juan Carlos Cortes, died tragically in the fire at the CroMagnon night club in Buenos Aires this past week. Pampa has cancelled his trip to the Bay Area in January and therefore will sadly not be at our Milonga on January 8, nor give the Monday classes at LMDC on the 10th, 17th, and 24th.
In Pampa's place, the enchanting couple of Felipe and Rosa will give the class at our Milonga on January 8th. At such short notice, we are so very fortunate to be able to have them teach and do a performance this Saturday. Felipe and Rosa have taught at our Milonga before and everybody enjoyed their class and performance. They teach regularly at The Beat on Monday nights. They have a lovely social style of dancing and their class is something not to miss. There will be a practice only ($5) on Monday, January 10th from to 10 pm. Yanina and Gennaro arrive on January 12 and will give the Monday class at LMDC starting on January 17, beginner/intermediate class from 8:00-9:00 ($15), followed by a practice ($5) till 11 pm. The milonga and class will be held at the Lake Merritt Dance Center, 200 Grand Avenue, between Bay and Harrison streets, Oakland. Hope to see you on the 8th! Jeanne and Gene (925) 283-0191
