Buenos Aires has a new seat belt law which went into effect on 10/18/04.
Police can stop cars and issue tickets to anyone not wearing seat belts
resulting in fines from $50-$500. This law applies to all passengers which
means if you take a taxi, you need to buckle up. Many taxis don't have seat
belts. If your driver doesn't wear a seat belt, he may be stopped during
your ride which will delay arrival at your destination.

U.S. citizens who reside in Argentina are encouraged to register with the
Consular section of the U.S. Embassy. Visitors are also welcome to
register. Registration ensures quick passport reissuance if it is lost or
stolen. There is no charge for the registration. You provide your local
address and phone with an emergency contact in the US along with a photocopy
of your passport. The form can be found on the Embassy website for
Argentina. www.usembassy.state.gov Have a photocopy of your passport with
you at all times; Argentine police can stop you at any time to ask for
identification.
