For the past five years I have been admiring the dancing of Amanda Lucero in the milongas of Buenos Aires. I believe she is the only true milonguera among all the women who dance in the milongas. Her life in tango says it all. Amanda has been my model for the way I dance tango--simply and with the music. She has done other exhibitions at Parakultural, each time with a different partner and without any practice. She can dance well with any man--a mark of a true milonguera.
I have shared the table of Beto and his wife Teresa for past two years or so at weekend milongas. They are a kind and gracious couple who have taught me so much about tango. Beto has a wonderful voice and often sings at our table, although never when he dances. And dancing with him is a real pleasure. With 50 years of tango under his belt, it's understandable how a woman would want to dance all night long with him. His legs seem to disappear when he turns. He and Teresa have only recently begun to do private lessons. You can see Amanda and Beto in exhibition: Tuesday, February 15 Parakultural in Salon Canning Scalabrini Ortiz 1331 23 a 4 hs. www.parakultural.com.ar
