Here's a few last minute pieces of information regarding the Portland ValenTango Feb 17-20, 05:
(see http://www.claysdancestudio.com/ValenTango05/ValenTango05.htm for details.) * First of all, I have to apologize. I know some of you did not come to the last October TangoFest 'cause it's getting to big. Well..I don't know how to break this to you...but it's looking like ValenTango may be even bigger! Sorry 'bout that. We'll do our best to accommodate you all. * Instructor performances have been split up. Brigitta, Tomas, Christopher, Caroline, Charity & Homer will perform Friday around 11:00 PM and Anne-Sophe, Pablo, Robin, Jennifer, Jaimes, Eva & Patricio will perform Saturday evening at 9:30 PM. * Location of the Fri & Sat Alternative milongas (2:00-5:00 PM) has been changed to the new Paradise Ballroom, 826 SE Belmont Ave. Belmont runs parallel to Burnside 9 blocks south. Maps are available on my web site (http://mabtango.home.comcast.net/) and at registration. * In addition to many nearby restaurants (again see the map), a snack buffet is included at the Thursday Opening Milonga; you can order a Chinese box lunch at the Paradise Alternative Milongas; you can buy snacks during the day at Bossa Nova classes; and there will be a no host bar and light menu at the Friday, Saturday and Sunday milongas. * The "U-Park" lot (located 1 block north of the Tiffany Center at the corner of 14 & Alder) is free Saturday evening for the Tiffany Center Grande Tango Ball. However, do not leave your car there overnight or it could be ticketed. * A free yellow school bus shuttle will leave the Tiffany Center Grande Tango Ball at 12:15 AM and go to the Jupiter Hotel. Starting at 12:30 AM it will leave from the Jupiter every hour on the half hour and go to the Post Grande Tango Ball at Oaks Park. Starting at 1:00 AM and leaving every hour on the hour it will return from Oaks Park to the Jupiter. (1-way is about 15 minutes.) * The school bus seats only 60 people, so I would encourage those with cars to meet in front of the Tiffany at midnight and give rides to anyone standing around. (Parking lot at Oaks Park is free. Maps to Oaks Park are on my web site and available at registration and the Grande Ball.) Thanks..I look forward to the best tango-weekend ever together with my tango friends.clay Clay Nelson P.O.
