Look for restaurants called TENEDOR LIBRE (translated - open fork) which are buffet places run by Asians with lots of vegies that you can combine as you wish for a fixed price of 5-7 pesos for lunch and 7-12 pesos for dinner plus beverage and tip. They are all over the city and make it easier for tourists who don't speak the language to select according to their preferences.
